Description
Edward of Woodstock, Prince of Wales, one of the great princes of England, is arguably one of the most successful battlefield leaders of the Middle Ages. He was on the winning side of three large-scale engagements, Crecy, Najera, and Poitiers, the last being his crowning achievement. While it is unclear how he earned the moniker “The Black Prince” years after his death, it is clear many of his contemporaries saw Edward as the embodiment of the chivalric ideal.
