Though the mountains act as their home, the Ashqarid hunts in the dunes below, burrowing beneath the sand where they might wait for weeks in a state of hibernation, awaiting the minute vibrations of a potential prey’s footsteps to wake them. Beneath the sand, the creatures can move at the speed of a horse at full gallop, almost completely undetectable.
